Which 7 hiking routes in Benidorm and it´s surroundings are you interested in?

The 7 hiking routes in Benidorm that we invite you to discover will help you to make alternative plans for your next holidays in the area. Of course, the beach and the sea are still an excellent option, but they will help you to discover that you can do something else and they will also allow you to enjoy yourself in a great way. So take note of these alternatives:

La Cruz de Benidorm

EsThis is a 5-kilometre walk that takes about an hour and a half to complete. One of its advantages is that it is a round trip, and it is not very difficult. It is located in the Sierra Helada and the cross was put up in the sixties to please the more conservative part of the city in the face of the boom in tourism. Today it has become one of its symbols.

Alt del Governador

It is somewhat longer than other options, as it covers some 10 kilometres over a period of more than three hours. Bear in mind that the route has a gradient of 700 metres, which, together with its length, makes this route more complicated than others. In fact, it is perhaps not the best option for someone who is not very experienced or for anyone with children, as it also passes alongside some cliffs. However, you will enjoy some truly incredible views.

Caletes tower

In this case, it will take you about an hour to walk the three and a half kilometres that make up this route. It is also a circular route that starts at the Torre de les Caletes, which was once the site of the coastal watchtower.

Orxeta mountain range

To do this route you have to go to the nearby town of Orxeta. It is an 8-kilometre route that will take you more than two hours to complete. We can’t say it’s very complicated, but it’s not the easiest either. The difference in altitude is more than 500 metres and it is a round trip, which is always advantageous.

Puig Campana

This is one of the most difficult of all the routes in the area and is only recommended for people who are in good shape and have experience. The route is about 16 kilometres long, which will take you more than 7 hours to complete and you will have to overcome a difference in altitude of over 1,300 metres. The route starts and finishes in almost the same place. Although it is always important to do this, in this case it is even more vital that you wear the right clothes and footwear, take water and something to eat, and protect yourself from the sun.

The Cantera Shelter

A really simple route and perfect for all kinds of people. It runs for about 5 kilometres and is a round trip. In less than an hour and a half you will have completed the route and you will only have to overcome a drop of just over 100 metres. El Abrigo de la Cantera is a cave in the Sierra Helada mountain range. It is a place of great historical interest, as evidence of some of the earliest human settlements in Benidorm were found inside. It is believed to be around 25,000 years old. However, it is not as visually attractive as other routes, as it passes through the town’s sewage treatment plant.

L’Albir lighthouse

This 5-kilometre route can be done in about two hours and is very easy, as it has almost no slope and is circular. You have to get to the lighthouse located in the neighbouring town of Benidorm. If you go by car, you won’t have any problems as there is a car park in the area. The path along which the route runs is wide and fully paved, so it is perfect for pushchairs or wheelchairs. In addition to the route itself, you will enjoy some incredible views.
