The town is famous for some of its buildings. Benidorm’s skyscrapers and tall buildings have earned it the nickname “Manhattan of the Mediterranean”.
The reason Benidorm has such tall buildings is largely due to the demand for accommodation by tourists visiting the town. Over the last few decades, Benidorm has become a very popular tourist destination, especially with European tourists looking for sun, beach and fun.
As demand for accommodation increased, property developers began to build taller and taller buildings to make the most of the available space. The geographical limitation of the town, surrounded by mountains and sea, has also made tall buildings a practical solution to accommodate a large number of tourists in a small space.
In addition, the construction of tall buildings has been a way of distinguishing Benidorm from other nearby coastal towns. It has helped to establish its position as a high-end tourist destination. Therefore, the construction of tall buildings in Benidorm has become an integral part of its urban identity and has contributed to its success as a tourist destination.
